First, something are going to be changing. Pre-Covid we, like lots of churches, had a Wednesday night Bible study accompanied by dinner. During Covid I have been doing a mid-week Bible study via this blog and YouTube. Starting May 19 we will begin having our midweek Bible Study in person at 2 PM. We will shoot for about 45 minutes for these sessions, which will include a time for prayer requests.
I will be in the office for drop-ins from 9-12 on Wednesdays, am willing to stay after if there are questions, and by appointment. I am always (in as much as anything is always) reachable by phone, text, and e-mail.
So, what shall we talk about? 1 Peter 3:15 says
“ But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect”
The technical term for this is apologetics. Literally this is means “speaking in defense of” but more generally it is “reasoned arguments or writings in justification of something, typically a theory or religious doctrine” according to the Oxford Dictionary.
This is a subject I have wanted to cover, but didn’t feel I could do it properly on video.
Therefor our first topic will be that classic of Christian literature, C.S. Lewis’ Mere Christianity.
For those who need a copy, the church can order some.
